ON1 Photo RAW (was ON1 Photo) is the lightning fast raw processor, photo editor, and plug-in collection all in one app photographers have been asking for. Unlike the current class of raw-based photo editors requiring catalogs, bouncing between apps for editing, and a subscription ecosystem, ON1 Photo RAW features a new, modern raw processing engine, tuned for today's sensors and graphics chips. Combined with our current set of tools, the next generation of ON1 Photo 10, will continue to work where you want, as a standalone app, a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, or a host app for other editing apps.
Photo RAW is a must have plug-in for Lightroom and Photoshop. At the heart lies Develop and Effects which include everything you could possibly need for creating any look you want. The hundreds of filters and presets are stackable, allowing for endless creativity. You don't need 10 different plug-ins when you can do it all with one. What's new in version 20.3.0
- Color Label Enhancements — Photographers use color labels in many different ways, so we’ve made them more flexible. You can now customize the label names in Preferences — instead of Red, Yellow, and Green, you can rename them to match your workflow (Favorites, Needs Retouching, Client Selects, etc.) Also in Grid View, labeled photos now display a subtle tint in the cell background, making them easier to identify at a glance.
- Hide Folders in Grid View — Photo Raw uniquely allows folders to appear alongside photos in Grid View. While many users appreciate this, others find it distracting. You can now choose to hide folders for a cleaner browsing experience.
- Browse Performance Improvements — Improving browsing performance and stability is a major focus this year. This update includes the first round of optimizations, delivering faster performance when opening and browsing new folders. Additional improvements are planned in upcoming releases.
- Small Screen Improvements — On smaller displays — especially laptops — the right side of the interface could feel cramped. For new installations, the Layers and Properties panes have been moved to the left side to create more working space. Brilliance Ai is now collapsed by default so you can access common Raw adjustments immediately. Existing users can still reposition or close panes to match their preferences.
- Apple Ml Performance — Due to a bug in macOs 26.1 and 26.2, some machine learning features (including Resize, Generative Crop, and Generative Erase) temporarily reverted to Cpu processing. With macOs 26.3, this issue has been resolved and Gpu acceleration has been restored for improved performance. To benefit from this improvement, update to macOs 26.3 or later.
- Improved Leveling Model — The Auto Level and Crop feature now delivers more consistent leveling results across groups of similar images.
- Improved Negative Mode Results — Negative Mode (found in the Tone & Color pane) converts scanned film negatives into positive images. The conversion algorithms have been refined to produce improved initial tone and color accuracy.
- Added preliminary support for the Sony a7 V (note some compressed raw versions are not supported at this time, no camera profiles are available yet).

Tried once more today (as I already did two years ago) migrating my Lightroom catalogue to ON1 and once more it miserably failed
Let's wait and see in a couple more years :p

I purchase the app as a replacement for Lightroom Classic. It does mostly everything I currently do in Lightroom and there is very little I'd miss.
The app is responsive and offers a number of advanced features, so it would have been a home run for someone like me who desperately wanted to switch away from the subscription model Adobe enforces nowadays, BUT the migration process from Lightroom to ON1 Photo RAW is still buggy. It's been months that I reported the problem(s) and there is no solution in sight. They released a new version that was supposed to correct everything since I originally purchased the app, then point-releases, and still I can't migrate my libraries.
I understand that bug happen, but when they do, you need to better communicate.
The one thing I REALLY don't appreciate is that If you want to have access to their beta releases you have to purchase a premium subscription. Having to pay to have the privilege of using a beta, buggy and unpolished version of the app and report to them the various glitches and problems of their builds doesn't sound right to me.
It's been over 6 months that I've purchased the app and still I can't use it because I can't properly migrate my pictures (which is the one big thing they advertise for their app).
So for the app itself, if you don't have to migrate your libraries, I'd give it a good 4-4.5 stars, but because I essentially can't use it because of all these issues, I'll lower it to maybe two :-(

Given how long ON1 has been making Photoshop plugins, I expect this will be an excellent app. The feature list is comprehensive. The price is competitive, depending on how much they will charge for updates. Still, Affinity Photo is less expensive. I haven't seen a feature comparison, however, so I don't know what the difference in price means in terms of capabilities. If ON1 really wants to sell this, they should show how it stacks up against Lightroom, Photoshop and Affinity Photo. Then again, we may have to wait for a third party to do the job honestly.
Still, they offer a free trial so hopefully some people with the time and interest to test this will let us know what they think. Sadly, I no longer have that kind of energy.
